Why is Mini Merguez vegan sausages classified as ultra‑processed (NOVA 4) and what specific additives does it contain?

It receives a NOVA 4 rating because the product is manufactured from isolated plant proteins, refined oil, and several functional ingredients such as gelling agents, stabilisers and preservatives; the label lists the additives E267 (acetate‑based preservative), E404 (calcium alginate) and E461 (methylcellulose).

How does the salt content in these sausages affect a hypertensive diet?

With 1.6 g of salt per 100 g, the sausages contribute a significant portion of the recommended daily limit (≈5 g), which can raise blood pressure in sensitive individuals; consumers managing hypertension should limit portion size or choose lower‑salt alternatives.

Are Mini Merguez vegan sausages suitable for strict diets such as vegan, gluten‑free, or keto?

The product is certified vegan and contains no animal ingredients, but it includes wheat protein and may contain gluten, so it is not gluten‑free; its carbohydrate content (5.2 g per 100 g) and moderate fat make it less compatible with a strict keto regimen.
