Why is Biscuits Delacre Tea Time Assortment classified as ultra‑processed (NOVA 4) and what specific additives does it contain?

The product receives a NOVA 4 rating because its formulation includes refined flours, multiple added sugars, vegetable fats derived from palm, and a list of food‑grade additives; its label lists additives E100 (turmeric colour), E322/E322i (soy lecithin emulsifiers), E450/E450i (diphosphate), E500 (sodium carbonate) and E503 (ammonium carbonate).

How does the high sugar content in this biscuit assortment affect a diabetic or hypertensive diet?

With 39 g of sugar per 100 g, the biscuits can cause rapid blood‑glucose spikes, making them unsuitable for diabetes management, while the modest 0.37 g of salt per 100 g is below the average for sweet snacks and therefore less of a concern for hypertension, though the overall high calorie and fat load still impacts cardiovascular health.

Is the palm oil used in this product a concern for sustainability or allergy considerations?

The vegetable fat blend contains palm oil and palm kernel oil, which are flagged for potential environmental impact due to deforestation, and although palm oil itself is not a common allergen, the product also lists nuts (almonds) and soy lecithin, so consumers with nut or soy allergies should avoid it.
