Why is NESTLE LION Barres de Céréales classified as ultra‑processed (NOVA 4) and which additives does it contain?

It is ultra‑processed because it combines refined flours, multiple syrups, added sugars, vegetable oil and a suite of food‑industry additives. The label lists additives E160 (carotenoid colour), E306 (tocopherol antioxidant), E322 (soy lecithin emulsifier), E422 (glycerol humectant) and E476 (polyglycerol polyricinoléate), all typical of NOVA 4 products.

How does the sugar and salt content of these bars affect a diabetic or hypertensive diet?

Each 100 g portion provides 22.5 g of sugars, which can cause rapid blood‑glucose spikes and is generally discouraged for diabetic meal plans; the 0.45 g of salt (≈0.18 g sodium) is moderate but still contributes to daily sodium intake, so hypertensive individuals should limit consumption.

Is this cereal bar suitable for vegan, gluten‑free, or keto eating patterns?

No – the bar contains whole‑wheat flour and wheat flour (gluten), skimmed milk powder and milk‑derived chocolate (dairy), and soy lecithin, so it is not gluten‑free or vegan, and its carbohydrate content (≈63 g per 100 g) is far too high for a keto regimen.
