Why is the Chocolate Rice and Whole Wheat Cereal Bar classified as ultra‑processed (NOVA 4) and what specific additives does it contain?

The bar combines refined cereals, added sugars, glucose syrup, dextrose, malt extract, flavorings and several emulsifiers, which are typical of ultra‑processed foods; its additive list includes soy and sunflower lecithin (E322), sorbitol as a stabiliser (E420) and a tocopherol (vitamin E) blend for antioxidant protection (E306).

How does the sugar and salt content in this bar affect a diabetic or hypertensive diet?

With 15 g of sugars per 100 g (about 19 g per bar) and 0.5 g of salt, the bar can raise blood‑glucose levels quickly and adds a noticeable amount of sodium, making it unsuitable as a regular choice for people managing diabetes or high blood pressure; occasional small portions are advised.

Based on its ingredient list, is this bar suitable for vegan or gluten‑free diets?

No. The bar contains wheat‑based ingredients (whole wheat, wheat flour, wheat gluten) that provide gluten, and it also includes skimmed milk powder, so it is neither gluten‑free nor vegan, although it is vegetarian.
