Why is Barres de céréales blé complet fraise classified as ultra‑processed (NOVA 4) and what specific additives does it contain?

The bar receives a NOVA 4 rating because its formulation includes multiple industrial ingredients such as glucose syrup, added sugars, flavorings, and a range of additives like citric acid (E330), antioxidant (E306), emulsifier lecithins (E322), and sorbitol stabilizer (E420), which are characteristic of ultra‑processed foods.

How does the sugar and salt content in these cereal bars affect a diabetic or hypertensive diet?

With 20 g of sugars per 100 g, the bars contribute a notable amount of carbohydrate that can raise blood glucose levels, requiring careful portion control for diabetics, while the 0.39 g of salt per 100 g is modest but still adds to daily sodium intake, so hypertensive individuals should consume them sparingly.

Based on the ingredient list, is this cereal bar suitable for vegan, gluten‑free, or dairy‑free diets?

No. The presence of wheat and gluten, skimmed milk powder, whole‑milk powder and soy lecithin means the bar is neither vegan, nor gluten‑free, nor dairy‑free, making it unsuitable for those following those specific dietary restrictions.
