Why is Biscuit Chocolat Noisette 5x2 classified as ultra‑processed (NOVA 4) and what specific additives does it contain?

The NOVA 4 rating is given because the biscuit is made from refined flours, added sugars, vegetable oils and a range of industrial emulsifiers and flavorings that are not present in minimally processed foods. Its additive list includes emulsifier lecithin (E322), citric acid (E330), sodium bicarbonate (E500) and ammonium bicarbonate (E503), as well as palm oil, cocoa powder, inulin and a blend of flavorings.

How does the high sugar and moderate salt content of this biscuit affect people with diabetes or hypertension?

With 26 g of sugar per 100 g, the biscuit can cause rapid blood‑glucose spikes, making it unsuitable for strict diabetic control unless consumed in very small portions. The 0.49 g of salt per 100 g is lower than the average snack but still contributes to daily sodium intake, so hypertensive individuals should monitor their overall salt consumption when including this product.

Is the possible presence of peanuts, hazelnuts or almonds in this product a risk for allergic consumers?

Yes. The label states that the biscuit may contain traces of peanuts, hazelnuts and almonds, so anyone with allergies to these nuts should avoid it or ensure strict cross‑contamination controls.
