Why is Protein Shake Café Latte classified as ultra‑processed (NOVA 4) and what specific additives does it contain?

The shake is made from multiple industrially derived ingredients such as milk protein concentrate, calcium caseinate, high‑oleic sunflower oil, and soy oil, and it includes several food additives for texture, preservation, and sweetness, including sucralose, acesulfame‑potassium, carrageenan, tripotassium phosphate, dipotassium phosphate, sodium hexametaphosphate, cellulose gel, cellulose gum, and magnesium phosphate, all of which place it in the NOVA 4 ultra‑processed category.

How does the sugar and salt content in this product affect a diabetic or hypertensive diet?

With only about 0.3 g of sugar per 100 g, the shake is low‑sugar and therefore unlikely to spike blood glucose levels, making it suitable for people with diabetes; however, its salt content of roughly 1.7 g per 100 g is relatively high for a beverage and could contribute to excess sodium intake, which is a concern for individuals managing hypertension.

Based on the ingredient list, is this product suitable for strict diets like Vegan, Keto, Halal, or Gluten‑Free?

The shake is not vegan because it contains dairy‑derived proteins (milk protein concentrate and calcium caseinate) and is not keto‑friendly due to the presence of carbohydrate sources and non‑nutritive sweeteners; it is likely acceptable for Halal consumers who permit dairy, but it does not contain gluten, so it is gluten‑free.
