Gurken

Gurken are pasteurised pickled cucumbers (gherkins) sold by Mercadona under the Hacendado brand, belonging to the Salty snacks and Salty and fatty products groups. The product carries a Nutri-Score of C (score 5) and is classified as NOVA 4 ultra-processed, containing low fat, low sugar and 1.5 g of salt per 100 g, with about 70% of the ingredients being cucumber. However, it includes additives such as monosodium glutamate (E621) and sodium metabisulphite as a preservative, which may be a concern for some consumers despite its overall low calorie and nutrient density.
