Why is Haribo Balla Stixx – Erdbeere classified as ultra‑processed (NOVA 4) and what specific additives does it contain?

The candy is made from refined sugars, wheat starch, palm fat, beeswax, and several processing aids such as mono‑ and diglycerides of fatty acids, citric acid, sodium citrate, carrageen, sunflower oil and flavorings, all of which are characteristic of ultra‑processed foods, leading to its NOVA 4 classification.

How does the high sugar content in Haribo Balla Stixx – Erdbeere affect a diabetic or hypertensive diet?

With 59 g of sugars per 100 g, the product can cause rapid blood‑glucose spikes, making it unsuitable for people managing diabetes; the low salt level (0.13 g) presents little direct risk for hypertension, but the overall high carbohydrate load still challenges blood‑pressure control when consumed in excess.

Is Haribo Balla Stixx – Erdbeere suitable for vegan, keto, or gluten‑free diets?

No; the candy contains beeswax (an animal‑derived ingredient) and wheat starch, so it is neither vegan nor gluten‑free, and its high carbohydrate (81 g carbs, 59 g sugars) composition makes it incompatible with keto dietary guidelines.
