Why is Carrefour Extra Cookies Chocolat Blanc & Canneberges classified as ultra-processed (NOVA 4) and what specific additives does it contain?

The product is rated NOVA 4 because it is made from refined flour, added sugars, multiple vegetable oils and contains several industrial additives; the label lists emulsifier E322 (soy lecithin), coloring agent E150a (caramel), sodium carbonate (E500ii) and diphosphate disodique (E450i) among the five additives identified.

How does the high sugar and moderate salt content in these cookies affect a diabetic or hypertensive diet?

With 42 g of sugar per 100 g, the cookies can cause rapid blood‑glucose spikes, making them unsuitable for tight diabetic control, while the 0.74 g of salt per 100 g is lower than the average snack but still contributes to daily sodium intake and should be limited for hypertension management.

Is the soy lecithin used in this product a concern for people with soy allergies?

Yes, the ingredient list includes soy lecithin (E322), which is derived from soybeans and can trigger reactions in individuals with a documented soy allergy, so such consumers should avoid this product.
