Why is Vegan Protein Bar Hazelnut Nougat classified as ultra‑processed (NOVA 4) and what specific additives does it contain?

The bar is marked NOVA 4 because its formulation relies on many refined and isolated ingredients, such as maltitol (E965), lecithin (E322), glycerin (E422), polydextrose (E1200) and sucralose (E955), as well as processed cocoa butter, rice flour and oat‑derived proteins. These components are industrially manufactured rather than whole‑food ingredients, which places the product in the ultra‑processed category.

How does the sugar and salt content of this vegan protein bar affect a diabetic or hypertensive diet?

With only 1.7 g of sugars per 100 g, the bar adds minimal simple carbohydrates, making it suitable for blood‑glucose control in diabetes. However, it contains 0.75 g of salt per 100 g, which is moderate; for individuals monitoring sodium intake due to hypertension, the bar should be consumed in moderation and balanced with lower‑salt meals.

Is this protein bar suitable for strict vegan, gluten‑free, keto or allergy‑free diets?

The product is certified vegan and contains no animal‑derived ingredients, but it is not gluten‑free because traces of gluten are listed, and it includes soy, nuts and possible milk traces, so it is unsuitable for those with soy, nut or dairy allergies. Its carbohydrate content (35 g per 100 g) and 1.7 g of sugars are too high for a strict ketogenic diet, though the low sugar level may fit some low‑carb plans.
