Is Friskies 5 Promesses Beef Chicken appropriate for kittens, adult cats, or senior cats?

The kibble is marketed as an adult‑cat diet; its relatively low animal protein makes it less suitable for growing kittens, while senior cats can tolerate it, though a higher‑protein diet may be preferable for their muscle maintenance.

What are the primary protein sources in this dry cat food, and how might the grain‑heavy formulation affect a cat’s digestion?

The main proteins come from beef and chicken, together contributing only about 3 % of the product, supplemented by plant‑derived protein extracts; the high cereal content (≈50 %) can be harder for obligate carnivores to digest and may lead to excess carbohydrates in the diet.

Does this formula contain common feline allergens or ingredients that could trigger food sensitivities?

Yes, it includes beef, chicken, and cereal grains, which are among the most frequent allergens for cats, although it does not contain artificial colourants or added flavorings.

Product Insights

Friskies 5 Promesses Beef Chicken is a dry kibble formulated for domestic cats, sold in 3 kg bags and available at French retailers such as Carrefour and Magasins U. The recipe combines a high proportion of cereals (about 50 % estimated) with a modest amount of animal protein, approximately 1.6 % beef and 1.6 % chicken, supplemented by plant protein extracts, vegetable fragments, oils, and a suite of added vitamins and taurine. While the formula is free from artificial colourants and includes essential nutrients for feline health, its low meat content and high carbohydrate base place it among the more processed cat foods, which may be less optimal for strict carnivorous diets.
