Why is Bacon en tiras Ahumado Natural classified as ultra‑processed (NOVA 4) and what specific additives does it contain?

The product is labeled NOVA 4 because it contains many industrial ingredients beyond the raw meat, including salt, flavorings, a series of stabilizers (e.g., trilosfton), preservatives and antioxidants (e.g., a sodium ascorbate compound), and other chemical agents whose names appear garbled in the label but serve typical functions of preservation, texture improvement and flavor enhancement.

How does the salt content in this bacon affect a hypertensive or diabetic diet?

At 2 g of salt per 100 g, the bacon contributes a substantial portion of the recommended daily sodium limit, which can raise blood pressure and is therefore unsuitable for hypertension management; however, its sugar content is only 0.8 g, so it does not significantly impact blood glucose levels for people with diabetes, though the overall high fat and sodium still make it a limited choice.

Is this smoked bacon suitable for vegan, keto, halal, or gluten‑free diets?

The product is made from pork belly, so it is neither vegan nor halal. Its carbohydrate content is very low (1 g total carbs, 0.8 g sugars), making it compatible with a keto diet. No gluten‑containing ingredients are listed, but the label does not explicitly certify gluten‑free status, so consumers with celiac disease should verify the absence of hidden gluten sources.
