Is this Atavik dog growth formula suitable for all dog life stages or only for growing puppies?

It is intended for puppies and junior dogs; it provides higher protein and nutrients for growth and is not formulated for senior dogs or adult maintenance, so it should not be fed as a lifelong diet to older pets.

What are the primary protein sources in this food, and how might its grain-free composition affect a dog's digestion?

The kibble derives most of its protein from raw fish (30%) and dehydrated chicken (24%); the grain-free label means carbohydrates come mainly from peas and potatoes, which can be easier on dogs with grain sensitivities but may cause digestive upset in animals that react to legumes.

Does this formula contain common allergens, and what precautions should owners with allergic dogs take?

Both fish and chicken are listed as ingredients and are among the most frequent pet allergens; owners of dogs with known fish or poultry sensitivities should avoid this product or consult a veterinarian before feeding.

Product Insights

This 3 kg grain-free dry kibble from Atavik is formulated for growing dogs, featuring 30% raw fish and 24% dehydrated chicken as the main protein sources, complemented by peas, potatoes, and a blend of prebiotics, vitamins, and minerals. The formula includes joint-support ingredients such as glucosamine and chondroitin, and natural preservatives like rosemary extract and vitamin E, aiming to promote healthy development and digestive balance. However, it contains both fish and poultry, which are common allergens for some dogs, and its high protein and fat levels may be excessive for pets with weight concerns or for senior dogs.

Comparative Analysis

Compared with typical dog foods, this grain-free puppy formula emphasizes animal proteins (30% raw fish, 24% chicken) and low-glycemic carbs from peas and potatoes, while adding joint-support glucosamine and chondroitin, making it richer in protein but potentially higher in fat than standard adult maintenance diets.
