Is this anti-breakage shampoo suitable for sensitive scalps or dry hair?

The formula contains sodium laureth sulfate and a synthetic fragrance, which can irritate very sensitive skin, but the presence of dimethicone, glycerin and conditioning polymers provides added moisture that can benefit dry hair; users with a sensitive scalp should perform a patch test or choose a sulfate-free alternative.

What is the role of dimethicone in the Elvital Anti-Breakage Shampoo?

Dimethicone is a silicone polymer that creates a lightweight, water-repellent coating on each hair strand, reducing friction, sealing cuticles, adding shine and helping to prevent breakage, though repeated use may lead to build-up that requires occasional clarifying.

How often should the shampoo be used and does it contain any controversial ingredients?

Most users apply the shampoo 2-3 times per week or daily depending on hair type; the product includes surfactants (sodium laureth sulfate), preservatives (phenoxyethanol, sodium benzoate), fragrance allergens (limonene, linalool, citronellol), the antioxidant BHT and the silicone dimethicone, all of which are common in cosmetics but are sometimes debated for their skin-irritation potential or environmental impact.

Product Insights

Elvital Anti-Breakage Shampoo is a 250 ml liquid cleanser formulated with surfactants such as sodium laureth sulfate and cocamidopropyl betaine, conditioning agents including dimethicone, guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride and glycerin, and a synthetic fragrance blend that also contains titanium dioxide for color. The product aims to reduce hair breakage and improve manageability, but it includes potential irritants like sulfates, fragrance allergens (limonene, linalool, citronellol), preservatives (sodium benzoate, phenoxyethanol) and the antioxidant BHT, which may be unsuitable for very sensitive scalps. It is labeled 'No gluten', yet it is not certified vegan or cruelty-free, indicating that consumers seeking a fully plant-based or animal-testing-free formula should verify independently.

Comparative Analysis

Targeted at the mass-market anti-breakage segment, Elvital stands out by combining silicone-based smoothing agents with traditional surfactants, offering consumers a shampoo that promises stronger, less fragile hair while differentiating itself with an opaque turquoise appearance from added titanium dioxide.
