Is Life Junior Small and Medium Breed suitable for all life stages or only for puppies of small and medium breeds?

The product is marketed as a junior formula for growing small-to-medium dogs and is best used from weaning until the end of the puppy stage; it is not formulated for senior dogs, and adult dogs should only be fed it if their nutritional needs match the higher protein and calorie profile.

What is the primary protein source in this food, and how does its grain-inclusive composition affect a dog's digestion?

Lamb accounts for 42% of the formula and serves as the main protein source, while rice and broken rice provide the majority of carbohydrates; these grains are highly digestible for most dogs, but the relatively high carbohydrate load may be less optimal for dogs prone to weight gain or requiring low-glycaemic diets.

Does this hypoallergenic formula contain common dog allergens, and what precautions should owners with sensitive pets take?

Although labeled hypoallergenic, the kibble contains lamb, poultry fat, and salmon oil, which can trigger reactions in dogs sensitive to these proteins; owners should introduce the food gradually, monitor for itching, digestive upset, or other signs of intolerance, and discontinue use if any adverse symptoms appear.

Product Insights

Life Junior Small and Medium Breed is a hypoallergenic dry dog food from Calibra, formulated for growing small-to-medium dogs and sold in Switzerland in 2.5 kg plastic bags. It delivers a high level of animal protein, with 42% lamb and added salmon oil for omega-3 fatty acids, and includes functional prebiotics and an inactive Lactobacillus acidophilus culture to support gut health. However, the formula relies heavily on rice (over 35% total) and contains several isolated additives such as mannane-oli, which may be less desirable for owners seeking low-carbohydrate or minimal-additive diets.
