Is Petreet Kitten Vellutate suitable for all life stages or only for kittens?

The formula is designed specifically for kittens, providing the higher calorie and nutrient density they need; it does not meet the nutritional requirements of adult or senior cats and should not be used as a complete diet for those life stages.

What is the main protein source in this food and how might the inclusion of starch and vegetable oil affect a kitten's digestion?

Chicken, comprising about 27% of the recipe, is the primary protein source; the added modified tapioca starch and vegetable oils supply carbohydrates and fat, which are generally well-tolerated by kittens but are not essential and can increase the overall calorie load.

Are there common allergens in this product and what feeding precautions should owners take?

The food contains chicken, a frequent feline allergen, as well as vegetable oil that may be derived from palm oil; owners of cats with known food sensitivities should monitor for signs of intolerance and consult a veterinarian before feeding, and they should follow the manufacturer's recommended serving size.

Product Insights

Petreet Kitten Vellutate is a canned wet food formulated specifically for kittens, featuring 27% chicken as the main protein source together with vegetable oils, modified tapioca starch, and added sugar. The product has a high moisture content of 86% and provides approximately 5% crude protein and 5% crude fat on a fresh-weight basis, which translates to moderate protein and fat levels on a dry-matter basis but is lower than many premium kitten diets. However, the inclusion of sugar and the uncertain source of vegetable oil (potentially palm oil) may be concerns for owners seeking a lean, grain-free or low-carbohydrate formula.
