Animal Planet's Tiritas de Pollo are chicken-based strips formulated as a cat snack, with real chicken meat accounting for roughly half of the ingredient composition. The recipe also contains glycerin and sorbitol as humectants and palatability enhancers, soy protein isolate, corn starch, potassium sorbate and modest salt, which together raise concerns about added sweeteners, soy allergen potential, and sodium level for sensitive felines. While the high animal protein content can support a cat's dietary needs, the presence of food additives (E420, E422) and grain-derived carbohydrates keep the treat in the ultra-processed category, making it best used sparingly as a complement to a balanced diet.
