Is this oil replacement suitable for sensitive or acne‑prone skin and hair?

The base ingredients like cetearyl alcohol and mineral oil are generally well tolerated, but the presence of fragrance, benzyl alcohol, geraniol and citronellol can trigger irritation in sensitive or acne‑prone individuals, so a patch test is advisable.

What role does behentrimonium chloride play in this formulation?

Behentrimonium chloride is a conditioning quaternary ammonium compound that smooths the hair cuticle, reduces static, and improves detangling by forming a thin, protective film on each strand.

How often should this product be applied and does it contain any controversial chemicals?

It can be used as a leave‑in after washing or as an occasional pre‑styling boost, typically once to twice a week, and it contains PEG‑12 methicone and mineral oil, which are synthetic silicone and petroleum‑derived ingredients that some consumers prefer to avoid.

Oil Replacement

Product Insights

Oil Replacement by Lilas Cosmetics is a 300 ml cosmetic formulation designed as an alternative to traditional hair oils. It blends cetearyl alcohol, mineral oil (paraffinum liquidum), cetyl palmitate, PEG‑12 methicone, behentrimonium chloride, argan kernel oil, and hydrolyzed wheat protein to provide emollient and conditioning benefits. However, the inclusion of fragrance, benzyl alcohol, geraniol, citronellol, and a PEG‑based silicone may irritate sensitive skin or cause allergic reactions in some users.

Comparative Analysis

Positioned as an oil replacement, this product aims to deliver the slip and shine of conventional hair oils while reducing greasiness, situating it between lightweight silicone conditioners and richer natural oils such as argan oil.
