What surfaces or skin types are WaterWipes suitable for, and are they safe for use on newborns?

WaterWipes are formulated specifically for baby skin and are safe for newborns; they are intended only for wiping the skin and should not be used on other surfaces or as a household cleaning product.

Does WaterWipes contain any irritants or preservatives that could cause allergic reactions?

The wipes contain a trace amount of benzalkonium chloride, a preservative that can cause irritation in highly sensitive individuals, but otherwise consist of water and a small percentage of grapefruit seed extract, which are generally well tolerated.

Is the plastic packaging of WaterWipes recyclable, and are the wipes themselves biodegradable?

The outer plastic container is recyclable in most Australian recycling programs, while the wipes themselves are made from non‑woven synthetic fibers and are not fully biodegradable, although they break down slower than traditional cotton wipes.

Product Insights

WaterWipes are baby moist wipes sold in Australia at Coles and Woolworths, packaged in a plastic container containing 60 wipes. The wipes consist of 99.9% water and 0.1% grapefruit seed extract, with trace benzalkonium chloride present as a preservative. While the high water content offers a gentle clean for delicate baby skin, the plastic packaging is not eco‑friendly and the benzalkonium chloride trace could irritate very sensitive users.

Comparative Analysis

WaterWipes positions itself as the purest baby wipe on the market, offering 99.9% water and a tiny dose of grapefruit seed extract, which distinguishes it from conventional wipes that rely on multiple surfactants and harsher chemicals.
