Is this kibble appropriate for all life stages or only for adult sterilised small‑breed dogs?

The formula is specifically designed for adult, sterilised small‑breed dogs; it is not intended for puppies, senior dogs with special dietary needs, or larger breeds.

What is the main protein source in this food, and how might the grain‑free formulation affect a dog's digestion compared with grain‑based diets?

The primary protein comes from dehydrated poultry proteins and fresh chicken, providing highly digestible animal protein, while the grain‑free starches (potato and cassava) are generally easy to digest but lack the fiber profile of whole grains, which can be beneficial for dogs with grain sensitivities but may require careful monitoring in breeds prone to certain heart conditions.

Are there any common allergens in this recipe, and what precautions should owners of dogs with food sensitivities take?

The kibble contains chicken, fish oil, and fava beans, which are among the most frequent canine allergens; owners should introduce the food gradually and watch for signs of itching, gastrointestinal upset, or ear infections, switching to a hypoallergenic diet if reactions occur.

Product Insights

Empreintes' grain‑free dry kibble is marketed for sterilised small‑breed adult dogs and is produced in France, packaged in a recyclable plastic bag. It supplies a high level of animal protein (about 45 % from dehydrated poultry proteins and fresh chicken) together with omega‑3‑rich fish oil, linseed, chia, antioxidant botanicals such as turmeric and micro‑algae, and joint‑supporting glucosamine and chondroitin. Nevertheless, the recipe relies heavily on processed potato and cassava starches, includes an extensive list of botanical extracts, and the grain‑free claim may be a concern for breeds prone to dilated cardiomyopathy, making it less suitable for dogs requiring low‑fat or hypoallergenic diets.
