Based on its formula, is this shampoo safe for sensitive, acne‑prone, or dry hair?

The presence of sodium laureth sulfate and fragrance can be harsh for very sensitive or acne‑prone scalps, but the conditioning oils and botanical extracts can benefit dry or normal hair; users with extreme sensitivity may prefer sulfate‑free options.

What role does coconut oil play in this shampoo?

Coconut oil acts as a moisturizing lipid that helps smooth the hair shaft, reduce protein loss, and add shine, while chamomile extract soothes the scalp and imparts a subtle brightening effect.

What is the optimal application frequency for this product, and does it contain controversial chemicals?

The shampoo is intended for daily to every‑other‑day use depending on hair type; its most controversial components are sodium laureth sulfate, a synthetic surfactant that can strip natural oils, and the fragrance mixture, which may cause irritation for some users.

Product Insights

Elseve Huile Extraordinaire Shampooing Nutrition is a 90 ml plastic-packaged shampoo from L'Oréal Paris designed to nourish and hydrate hair. Its formula combines conditioning agents such as coconut oil, chamomile extract, and sunflower seed oil with surfactants like sodium laureth sulfate and coco‑betaine that effectively cleanse but may be irritating for very sensitive scalps. While the added fragrance and colorant CI 19140 give a pleasant scent and appearance, they also introduce potential allergens and synthetic additives that some users may prefer to avoid.

Comparative Analysis

Positioned as a premium nourishing shampoo, it targets consumers seeking oil‑rich hair care while distinguishing itself from typical sulfate‑free alternatives by retaining strong cleansing agents for a deep wash.
