Based on its formula, is Total Care safe for people with a sensitive mouth or for children under 12?

The mouthwash contains a high concentration of alcohol and strong essential oils, which can provoke a burning sensation, so it is generally not recommended for highly sensitive mouths or for children younger than 12 years old.

What is the role of cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) in Total Care mouthwash?

CPC acts as an antimicrobial agent that reduces plaque-forming bacteria, helping to prevent gingivitis and maintain oral hygiene while complementing the fluoride's cavity-protective effect.

How often should Total Care be used and does it contain any controversial ingredients?

Dentists advise using the rinse twice daily after brushing, and the formulation does contain alcohol, which some consumers consider controversial due to its potential irritation and drying effects.

Product Insights

Total Care by Listerine is a 95 ml mouthwash presented in a PET bottle with a PP cap, formulated to provide antimicrobial protection, freshen breath, and strengthen teeth with added fluoride. The rinse offers effective plaque reduction and cavity prevention, but its high alcohol content and strong essential oil blend can cause a burning sensation and may be unsuitable for sensitive mouths or children under 12. Consumers should follow the recommended usage of twice daily after brushing and avoid swallowing the product.

Comparative Analysis

Positioned as an all-in-one oral care solution, Total Care differentiates itself in the market by combining antibacterial agents and fluoride in one rinse, targeting users who seek both fresh breath and cavity protection without a separate fluoride toothpaste.
