Based on its formula, is this product safe for sensitive, acne-prone, or dry skin?

The stick is generally well tolerated on normal to dry skin thanks to soothing Avene thermal spring water and moisturizing oils, but the chemical UV filters and waxes can trigger irritation on very sensitive or acne-prone skin, so a patch test is recommended.

What is the specific role and benefit of DIETHYLHEXYL BUTAMIDO TRIAZONE in this formula?

DIETHYLHEXYL BUTAMIDO TRIAZONE acts as a broad-spectrum UV filter that absorbs both UVB and UVA rays, offering high photostability and helping the product maintain its SPF 50+ protection over time.

What is the optimal application frequency for this product, and does it contain controversial chemicals?

Apply the stick liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure and reapply at least every two hours or after swimming or sweating; it contains modern chemical UV filters, which are approved for cosmetic use but may be considered controversial by some consumers seeking mineral-only sunscreens.

Ultra Stick 50+ Ultra glide/glissant INVISIBLE

Stick Protection Solaire

Product Insights

The Avene Ultra Stick 50+ Ultra Glide Invisible is a high-SPF (SPF 50+) sunscreen stick that provides a non-greasy, glide-on application with an invisible finish, suited for targeted protection on the face and body. Its formula blends modern chemical UV filters (DIETHYLAMINO HYDROXYBENZOYL HEXYL BENZOATE, DIETHYLHEXYL BUTAMIDO TRIAZONE, BIS-ETHYLHEXYLOXYPHENOL METHOXYPHENYL TRIAZINE) with soothing Avene thermal spring water, antioxidant vitamin E and plant-derived emollients such as sunflower seed oil and castor oil. Nevertheless, the presence of several synthetic filters and waxes may cause irritation in very sensitive or acne-prone skin, and the product's vegan status is not confirmed.

Comparative Analysis

Positioned as an ultra-glide, invisible SPF 50+ stick, this Avene sunscreen targets consumers who need high-level protection without visible residue, differentiating itself with a convenient stick format, Avene thermal spring water soothing base, and a blend of photostable UV filters.
