Is Bananas For Bacon suitable for all life stages and breeds of dogs?

Yes, the product is marketed as an all-life-stage formula and can be fed to puppies, adult and senior dogs of any breed, provided they have no specific health conditions that require a specialized diet.

What is the primary protein source in Bananas For Bacon, and how does its grain-inclusive nature affect digestion?

The main protein comes from real bacon complemented by sunflower meal, and the inclusion of potato provides digestible carbohydrates, making the diet grain-inclusive yet generally easy on the digestive system of most dogs, although pets with grain sensitivities may prefer a fully grain-free diet.

Are there any allergens in Bananas For Bacon that owners should watch for?

Banana is listed as an allergen, so dogs with known fruit sensitivities should avoid this food; the formula does not contain common allergens such as wheat, soy or dairy, but owners should monitor for any adverse reactions to the added molasses or glycerin.

Product Insights

Bananas For Bacon is a pet food made by Shameless Pets that combines bacon, sunflower meal, flaxseed and banana with potato, vegetable and cane molasses to create a protein-focused formula. It supplies a high level of animal protein and healthy fats while adding fiber from flaxseed, yet it is classified as ultra-processed (NOVA 4) and includes four additives such as citric acid, tocopherols and rosemary extract, which may be a concern for highly sensitive pets. The presence of banana, flagged as an allergen, and added sugars from molasses suggest it is best suited for dogs without fruit sensitivities, and it is currently sold in the United States.
